Employment, Work and Making Money the MGTOW Way:

MGTOW stands for Men Going Their Own Way.  Applying this to work/employment means that you view jobs as something relative to you, rather than you relative to the job.  That means that you are more important than a job or 'career', and you do not need to adjust yourself to suit the needs of others, or acquire skills or mannerisms to suit others.

Of course just because you value your self, your own path, before other people, doesn't mean that you should behave like the proverbial Jackass and piss everyone off with your surly manner.  Rather that you value yourself first and the job and fellow colleagues second.  So long as you choose to do that which you want to do, then being civil will come naturally to you, as it will probably be conducive to serving your own goals, your own path.

Valuing yourself first and your employment second also means that you won’t try to 'sell yourself' or appear 'attractive' to prospective employers.  Selling yourself means that you compromise your own principles and beliefs to meet the needs of others.  Effectively you become a servant, bordering on a (mental) slave, who adjusts themselves to suit other people.  MGTOW don't think like that.  They 'do' first, and 'do' what they choose to do.  It's about exercising your own will, your own choice.  If you're a Christian, then this means picking up your cross (chosen path) daily and if needs be suffering for it (in the context of employment that could mean living in poverty or near poverty, or receiving discouragement or abuse from other humans).  If you're a pagan then that means becoming at one with Vili and Woden so that you can choose your path (Vili, in English 'Will'), and then do it (the root of Woden's name is 'Wod' which means 'to blow' as in a motive force).

Below are a couple of posts from the Androsphere on the issue of employment:

Twenty over at Twenty has this piece on earning money in general:

Bill Powell over at 'Apocalypse Cometh' has a few entries on specific jobs/careers:

Work is what you do with your life, what you spend your lifetime on (and you've only got one of those).  It's not just a means of earning 'cash' to spend in your 'free time' (unless of course that's they way you want to do it).

If you view it that way, as something that you 'have to do' and 'don't have a choice in', as a compulsion, duty or 'doing the right thing', then you'll only developed psychological problems for yourself.  A person, or group of people, that forces itself to do something that it doesn't want to do is more likely to become Schizophrenic or Sociopathic.  Why is this likely to happen?  Because those are the only two response that you can have to an oppressive force that is hostile to your very nature: free will.  If you find yourself subjected to oppression then you will either detach yourself from the world (Schizoidal tendency), or rage against it (Sociopathic tendency).  Free will, choice, agency, call it what you will is essential for life, this is why men in the Androsphere are pissed, because society collectively, with its social and civil laws, is denying us, men, this intrinsic existential (and I mean existential in the absolute sense) right.  Work is something that you do because it is your will, it doesn't matter if it's trimming hedges for a big country estate, panning for gold in Alaska, shining shoes on a street corner, or anything else.  Will is all that matters, free choice, agency, it's whatever you want to do.

Shine, by Henry Rollins:
Shine lyrics

if I'd listened everything that they said to me, I wouldn't be here!
and if I took the time to bleed from
all the tiny little arrows shot my way,
I wouldn't be here!
the ones who don't do anything are always
the ones who try to put you down
and you could spend your entire life walking around
in the nowhere land of self doubt

'coz when you start to doubt yourself the real world will eat you alive!
it's time, it's time to align your body with your mind, it's hero time
it's time, it's time to align your body with your mind, it's hero time
'coz when you start to doubt yourself the real world will eat you alive!
and you know it's true!
I'm talking to you: hero time starts right now! Yeah, hero time, yeah,
time to shine, hey, hero time!

if ya think you've got 100 years to mess around: you're wrong!
this time it's real, y o u r t i m e i s n o w . . . it's hero time!
Yeah, hero time, hey, time to shine, yeah, hero time, yeah!

hard times are gettin' harder, the liars are acting strong
you better get a grip on yourself or you won't be around too long
it's hero time, hey, time to shine, yeah,
hero time, yeah, hero time, yeah!
it's hero time, it's hero time, time to shine, shine, shine, shine, shine!
oh yeah! (X3)

no such thing as spare time, no such thing as free time
no such thing as down time
all you got is life time... go! 'coz it's hero time, 'coz it's time to
shine
'coz it's time to go, go, go! yeah, hou!

when you're gone, you're so gone (X2)
you've got it now, it's time to go
hero time starts right now! yeah, aha..! ...change it!

I got grace in times of friction, I got truth in times of fiction
I've got no time for the hype... suicide!? I'm not that type...
I got no time for drug addiction, no time for smoke and booze
too strong for a shortened life span, I've got no time to lose!
It's time to shine, yeah, it's hero time, yeah, it's hero time, yeah,
yeah!

when you start to doubt yourself the
real world will eat you alive! yeah!
you could spend your entire walking
around, coward: or you can get up!
get up, get up, get up, get up! it's time to shine! yeah...
